Infrastructure

Converged IT infrastructure is used by IT organizations to centralize the management of IT resources, consolidate systems, increase resource utilization rates, and lower costs. These objectives are enabled by the creation of pools of computers, storage and networking resources that can be shared by multiple applications and managed in a collective manner using policy driven processes.

Converged Network Infrastructure

It’s not that long ago when all the talk in the Communications marketplace related to how to integrate both the Voice and Data networks into one converged infrastructure. However, the fast moving communications space of today is much more demanding with both employers and employees seeking a much broader set of requirements when it comes to Networks. Whilst it can be argued that converged Voice and Data networks are an accepted norm these days, we still perceive Wi-Fi and Mobile networks as something different.

This position is unsustainable with the current incredible uptake of the use of personal devices for the work environment, namely Smartphones and Tablets. There is almost an automatic expectation that somehow all network infrastructures can be “blended” into one seamless network where access to Data, Voice and Applications all operate in an un-interrupted fashion without the need to have to re-configure and switch between settings.
